A new chapter in regulating the legal profession

Lawyer Zuhair Abdullah Al-Latif affirmed that the issuance of the Lawyers Law, with the blessing and support of His Majesty the King, represents a landmark in our professional journey. He described it as a significant legislative and national achievement, the fruit of cooperation between the legislative and executive branches and the Bahrain Bar Association. This law fulfills the aspirations of an entire generation of lawyers who have long advocated for the modernization of the Lawyers Law, which dates back to 1980. It embodies a qualitative leap in regulating the legal profession, aligning it with the best modern international practices. Lawyer Zuhair Abdul Latif pointed out that the new regulatory law establishes guidelines for the work of law firms and keeps pace with the demands of the digital transformation occurring in the Kingdom's judicial system. He added that it enhances the Kingdom's readiness to handle international disputes more professionally, thereby attracting greater investment. He stated that a developed legislative environment is one of the most prominent factors in attracting investment globally today. Lawyer Zuhair stressed that the law gives lawyers the opportunity to practice the profession independently, as it contributes to strengthening professional immunity and improving the professional conditions of members of the standing judiciary, and addresses many of the shortcomings of the old law. He said: “I am confident that this law will be the cornerstone for developing the legal profession and raising it to the ranks of developed countries, and in a way that contributes to achieving effective justice.”
